Work Shares

Picture
A work share family at the Ohio farm.

As much as we need workers, we are not in the position to hire anyone for salary. We may consider taking on an intern if the fit is right.

However, we’re big into bartering work for something to take home. Volunteer some time working and benefit!

  • You'll have the satisfaction of helping grow your own food

  • You'll get to meet other CSA Members

  • You'll get to know the Mulberry Creek Farm family and animals

  • You'll have the opportunity to gain a bit of gardening knowledge or assistance

  • You'll get some fresh air and sunshine (not to mention the possibility of a great workout) and something tasty to take home at the end of the day.

We prefer workshare members who have had some experience in growing vegetables sustainably, but will also consider enthusiastic applicants who have no prior experience.

Conditions:

  • Work Shares typically available to Garden Shareholders only.

  • All work sharers must attend a training to familiarize you with the farm, tools locations, crops, and techniques used. (It's not really as cumbersome as it sounds.)

  • Everyone who works at the farm must work when someone else is working. We'll try to partner more experienced gardeners with novices. (Again, this sounds heavier than reality.)

  • Typically, compensation comes in the form of additional produce or other farm products. We are not in a position to hire workers for cash.

  • Please remember that we work rain or shine, in cold or hot weather, and that Farming is physical labor (you will get dirty).

  • Workers will be trained and supervised by us.
